Why weddings break normal shipping

A wedding order is never one parcel. It is the bride's saree from a silk house, blouses stitched by a tailor, the groom's sherwani from somewhere else, jewellery, return gifts by the dozen, clothes for parents and children, and something forgotten that arrives a fortnight later. Shipped individually from India that is a base rate each time, and it is unaffordable.

Where to start, piece by piece

Our buying notes take the main pieces one at a time: lehengas, sherwanis, Anarkali suits, readymade saree blouses, artificial and fashion jewellery and printed wedding invitations, plus bangles by the dozen. Each one covers what to check before you buy and how it travels.

The way to run it

Get your Indian address before you start buying, and use it for everything from the first purchase. Each parcel is photographed as it arrives, so relatives sending things and shops posting orders all land in one place you can see. When the list is complete, we repack the lot into one carton and send it.

Give yourself time

Storage is free for the first 30 days per parcel, which covers most of the buying. If the wedding is further out, tell us — it is far cheaper to plan the shipment than to rush it. Work backwards from the date and leave room for customs at your end.

Jewellery is the exception

Gold and precious stones cannot be sent by ordinary air courier out of India. Artificial and fashion jewellery is fine and travels well. Plan for the real gold to be carried by someone flying, and let us handle everything else.

Return gifts and bulk

Fifty small identical items are cheap in India and heavy in the air. Weigh the saving against the freight before committing to bulk. We can tell you the chargeable weight before you pay.
