What to check before you order

Decide stitched or unstitched first. Unstitched suit pieces (top fabric, bottom fabric and dupatta) are cheaper and fit perfectly once a tailor makes them, but you need a tailor where you live.
For ready-made suits, use each brand's own size chart in centimetres or inches. Indian sizes run smaller than UK, US and European sizes, and they vary between brands.
Check whether the dupatta and the bottom are included. Listings sometimes sell the kameez alone or the set as two pieces.
Order wedding and Eid suits four to six weeks ahead, which leaves time to exchange a size while the parcel is still in India.

Weight, customs and getting it here intact

Weight

Light. A cotton suit set is about 400 to 600 grams; a worked wedding suit can be 1 to 1.5 kilos.

Volume

Suits fold flat, so a box of several ships close to its real weight. Retail boxes come off if you ask.

Customs

Declared as clothing, which most countries allow without restriction. Duty and VAT depend on your country's threshold, so one consolidated box is usually better value than several parcels. Check what your destination allows.

Condition

Worked suits are folded with tissue and kept apart from anything that could snag them.

Since 15 July 2026 the UK–India trade agreement has cut or removed duty on many goods made in India where the origin rules are met. VAT still applies.
