Buying NCERT and Indian school books when you live abroad
CBSE schools run in more than two dozen countries, and their children need the same NCERT books as students in India. Order them in India and we send the set on.
Yes — you can buy NCERT and school books from Indian shops even if they do not deliver to your country. India Rabbit gives you a free delivery address in India. You order to that address as an ordinary domestic customer, we receive and hold the parcel free for 30 days, combine it with anything else you buy, and forward the lot to you.
Why this is hard to buy where you are
CBSE says it has schools affiliated in India and 26 other countries, many of them in the Gulf. Printed NCERT books sold abroad are often hard to find or cost far more than their printed price. In India they are sold at the price printed on the book, and since October 2024 Amazon India has run an NCERT store under an agreement with NCERT, selling textbooks at that price.

| Amazon.in NCERT store | Launched in October 2024 under an agreement with NCERT, selling K-12 textbooks at the printed price. |
| ePathshala | NCERT's free official e-textbooks for every class, on the web and in apps. Worth checking before you buy a printed set. |

Indian textbook sellers deliver within India. Order the full set to your India Rabbit address and it ships in one box.
What to check before you order
- Check the class and the edition. NCERT revises books, so match what your child's school uses.
- Look at ePathshala first: the e-books are free and official, and you may only need printed copies of some subjects.
- Buy the whole year's set in one order, plus any workbooks, so it travels in one box.
- Keep the bills. We prepare the customs declaration from them.
Weight, customs and getting it here intact
Weight
Books are dense, so a full class set is a heavy but compact box, priced on its weight.
Volume
Compact. Packed flat, books take little space for their weight.
Customs
Declared as printed books. Several countries treat books favourably, but rules differ and some have changed recently, so check your destination's page. Check what your destination allows.
Condition
We pack books flat and tight so corners are not crushed, and keep them dry.
