Does Lenskart ship to Canada?

Check at your own checkout, and if it will not deliver to Canada, order to your India Rabbit address in Kerala. Lenskart then delivers inside India like any domestic order, and we send your glasses on to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton or anywhere else in Canada.

Your Canadian prescription has no PD on it

This is the point that catches Canadians out. The Canadian Association of Optometrists says pupillary distance (PD), the distance between your pupils that centres each lens, is not part of the optical prescription; it is measured by whoever dispenses your glasses. An online order needs it, so ask your optometrist or optician to measure it and write it down. The association also says a valid prescription carries the optometrist's details, your name, the refractive and any prism figures, an issue date, an expiry date and a signature, and it recommends that the expiry be no more than two years. Order before yours runs out.

Reading the numbers

For each eye you need SPH (sphere), CYL (cylinder) and axis, plus ADD for varifocals and prism if prescribed. Right eye may be written OD or RE, left eye OS or LE. Cylinder may be written as a plus or a minus number; both can describe the same correction, so copy it exactly as written, and if an order form will not accept your format, ask your optometrist to rewrite it rather than converting it yourself.

Duty from CA$20

Canada charges duty and GST on goods from India above CA$20, the lowest threshold of any country we ship to, so a pair of glasses will almost always pay something. Each shipment is cleared separately, so combining glasses with your other Indian orders saves a clearance and often a brokerage fee. The calculator shows, service by service, whether duty for Canada is already in the price; where it is not, the courier collects it before delivery.

What travels and what does not

Frames and finished spectacle lenses ship well in a hard case. Contact lens solution is a liquid: sealed, unopened and declared only, and ask us first about peroxide-based systems. It is heavy for its price, so buy it locally where you can. Anything with a battery, smart glasses included, cannot be shipped.
