Two products to leave off the list
Baby walkers. Health Canada lists baby walkers among products prohibited for sale, importation and advertisement in Canada, and says prohibited products can be detained at the border. FirstCry India sells them. Do not order one for Canada.
Strollers. Health Canada requires certain information to be permanently fixed to a stroller in English and French. A stroller made for the Indian market is unlikely to carry it, and a stroller is expensive to fly anyway. Buy one in Canada.
And the appliances
Canada runs on 120V and India on 230V, so FirstCry bottle warmers and sterilisers will not work on a plug adapter.
What is worth ordering
Children's festival clothes, Indian-language books, cotton clothing and soft toys. Indian winter-weight children's wear, such as lined kurtas and woollen sets, is another, since Canadian Indian shops rarely stock it in small sizes.
How it works
Add your India Rabbit address in Kerala to your FirstCry India account and order as a customer in India. We photograph each parcel, hold it free for 30 days and send it in one box. Duty and GST or HST are charged by the CBSA and collected by the carrier; they are separate from our charge.
Costs and transit to Canada
Typical transit is 4 to 14 business days from the day your consolidated box leaves our Kerala warehouse, plus clearance at your end. Parcels are held free for 30 days each while you finish ordering.
