Does Lenskart ship to Australia?

Biosecurity: pick the frame material with care

Australian biosecurity is the strictest of any destination we ship to, and it reaches eyewear in one specific way. Wooden items, bamboo and untreated plant material are on Australia's prohibited list. If a frame or a case is made of wood or bamboo, leave it out of an Australian box and choose acetate, metal or plastic instead. Everything else in a glasses order, frames, lenses, cloths and hard cases, is the easy part. Declare every item honestly, down to the packaging.

Tax is rarely the problem here

GST and duty generally apply only to goods valued over AUD 1,000, so most orders land with no tax charge at all. That makes Australia the opposite of Canada, where duty starts at CA$20, and it means the cost to watch is the shipping. Glasses are light, so they add little to a box that is already coming with your other Indian shopping.

Order sunglasses for your summer, not India's

The seasons are inverted. Sunglasses bought for an Australian summer need to leave our warehouse well before December, so order in October or early November and let the parcels collect with us. Melbourne and Sydney run large Onam celebrations, and a box going out for those can carry glasses as easily as clothes.

Your prescription

For each eye you need SPH (sphere), CYL (cylinder) and axis, plus ADD for varifocals and prism if prescribed. Pupillary distance (PD), which centres each lens, is not always written on a prescription, so ask for it to be measured before you order online. Cylinder can be written as a plus or a minus number; copy it exactly as written rather than converting it yourself.

What travels and what does not

Contact lens solution is a liquid: sealed, unopened and declared only, and ask us first about peroxide-based systems. Anything with a battery, smart glasses included, cannot be shipped.
